Newsome High School & Sports College is a community comprehensive school, and specialist sports college, catering for boys and girls between the age of 11 and 16 within the Kirklees L.E.A. There are 650 students on roll, largely drawn from Newsome, Berry Brow, Netherton and South Crosland. Approximately 30% of students come from outside the catchment area by parental choice.

We are a resourced provision for students with physical and hearing impairment.   All our students, regardless of their ability, work in main stream classes.

Newsome High School and Sports College provides a broad curriculum throughout both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.  Our students start their attainment journey in Year 9 and students gather a portfolio of successes throughout their time at our school, not only in their academic studies, but through our wide enrichment programme.

At Newsome we have a clear focus on the development of the young person.  We believe it is our role to create individuals who leave our school with all the skills needed in the modern world.
