Newsome High School & Sports College is a Community, Secondary Comprehensive School, and specialist Sports College catering for boys and girls between the age of 11 and 16 within the Kirklees L.E.A. There are 650 students on roll, largely drawn from Newsome, Berry Brow, Netherton and South Crosland. Approximately 30% of students come from outside the catchment area by parental choice! The school is of a size, which enables provision of a broad curriculum at Key Stage 3 and a good range of options at Key Stage 4, whilst at the same time, creating a feeling of community. The new development of the Kirklees Collegiates has enabled us to broaden the KS4 curriculum still further through cooperation with our partner secondary schools and Huddersfield Kirklees College.
